New gingham skirt by Stuart Currie
It's funny how we tend to think of our parents as being older, but they were young too once. This was painted from an old sepia 1950s photo of my Mum wearing a fashionable gingham 'Circle Skirt'. Sitting in the sun in our garden, she must have been excited to have her photo taken in her new purchase as she was still wearing her slippers! I painted her in sepia from a tiny black and white photo, but colourised the skirt. I guessed it was red but who knows 🙂
