Feeding the Mynah Birds by Stuart Currie

How lovely and what wonderful memories, your mother would have loved this painting

A poignant memory painted so lovingly Stuart.

Great shapes in the lights and darks. Subtle handling of greens. The loosely painted house in background is nice balance to the foreground figures. Striking painting.

My Mum always told me that when we lived in Singapore, I used to love feeding the Mynah birds in the garden with her. I was born and lived in Singapore for the first two years of my life. I don't remember it, although I wish I could. This was painted from a small, monochrome photo, so I had to guess the colours. She passed away recently, and I miss talking to her about these sort of moments, which must have been magical for a new, young mother.
