40x28cm mixed media on board. Part of a series made in return for a bespoke violin. I'm grinding pieces of blue & white china that I find in fields when I'm walking, to make into blue & white paint - painting the fiddle into reality. The pseudo-willow pattern shows scenes from my friendship with the luthier, his house & garden, my house, the village where I live. The fiddle is made from spruce harvested in phase with the moon; the grain traps the light so I call her Ayla, 'the ring of light round the moon'.
