Thanks for your kind remarks, Mark and Carole. The photo I based this on was quite dark, I think I should have lightened the mood in the painting.

I like the mood you have set Stephen, it's got atmosphere. I know I say this all the time about your paintings, but I just love your misty wet in wet tree's! I also like how you leave some of the white paper showing through your washes.

The shadows in the water are excellent, plus I do like the colours, especially that lovely almost golden ochre shade of the footpath running along the left. It lifts the whole painting very nicely.

I painted this from an old photo I took some years ago. The lovely tree on the right has since been felled but it makes for a much better composition with it included.
