Sorry to sound so negative Stephen but I'm not at all keen on digital images. My eyes tend to glaze over whenever I see them here. :)

Many thanks everyone for your kind remarks everyone. I do tend to agree with you Louise but there has been some nice digital work posted recently. As Dennis has said it is just as hard to do and quite good fun. It would be quite nice to sit and sketch outside on my iPad but I'd be a bit wary around where I live!

Good for you for trying it out, but it isn't painting is it Stephen and as images can be produced so quickly and then altered digitally then I really can't see the skill or appeal in ipad work. I prefer to see proper paintings and drawings here. An ipad image isn't a painting in my opinion and I can't bring myself to call such works 'paintings'. Sorry, but that's how I feel and I'm being honest! I'd be interested to hear what others think.

It's surprising when you give it a go Louise, after a few minutes you are just trying to capture the image just as you do with a pencil or brush. The act of getting a piece of paper, getting the pallete ready getting paints out are all good physical things and good fun. So that part of it is different, the ideas, planning, making decisions etc. are just the same.

But you end up with either a print or an image on your screen. Where's the satisfaction in that? Give me a proper painting with paint and real brushes any day!

I suppose we all look at art in different ways, as a hobby painter, I just try out different approaches and media and enjoy the experience.

Sorry Stephen.. I wasn't having a go at you and totally understand you trying out different ways of working. All good experience and worth trying out. I just meant generally, I'm not keen on digital images. I'll leave it at that. Still friends? :)
