You continue to make progress in acrylic - I like the play of light in this one, and although some of the forms are a little under-drawn for my taste (by which I suppose I mean I like more detail and tonal contrast) actually I don't think I'd change this at all, because it works as it is, and you wouldn't want to overdo it. I like the way the intensity of tone recedes in the trees, and the warm brown you've used for the trunks, with a bit of white in the foreground trunk. I also like the composition - it's unfussy, and you want to go round that corner to see what's there. A very satisfying and peaceful painting. By the way, you said in your comment on one of your other acrylics that you found acrylic paper slippery by comparison with watercolour paper: I couldn't agree more - I really loath acrylic paper! You can of course use acrylics very successfully on watercolour paper, and I much prefer it to the other awful stuff.

Many thanks Robert for taking the time for such a detailed and encouraging comment, much appreciated, I will continue my experiment with using acrylics.

Yes you are doing great Stephen

Ditto Dennis.

Many thanks once again Kal.

Wow - you really have captured the effect of the light on the path and through the trees in this one, Stephen. Impressive work!

Many thanks once again Thea.

Tried another acrylic painting on a small canvas board at the art group earlier from a photo I took last summer in a nearby park.

I am a self taught amateur painter, I mostly paint landscapes in watercolour but I 'dabble' in other mediums from time to time. I really enjoy my art, especially painting outdoors when the weather allows.
