Winter, tonal sketch. by Stephen Slater

Comments

Definitely a must for tonal work Stephen… use four mixes it three if on tinted paper. Nice work!

4 mixes of different strengths I meant to say… grey paper would act as your mid tone. Strathmore Gray mixed media paper is great, Amazon stock it!

These sketches are so good Stephen.

Many thanks for your advice Alan. Many thanks Lewis.

I do enjoy painting tonal sketches like this excellent one Stephen and they certainly do help to develop your skill, I mostly use Payne Grey , try using indigo that gives sone excellent results.

Superbly done Stephen.

Many of Hans Spencer and Chris.

Really like the tones Stephen- they add great depth.

A little (A5), sketchbook ‘doodle’, just using Paynes Grey. Imagining a winter scene. A lot of art teacher’s recommend doing these to improve use of tone.
