Hi Stephen I like this but I've not seen the original painting and I have never heard of Paul hardy . I'll look him up .

Many thanks everyone for your most encouraging comments. I am enjoying using pastels again after a long break from using them, good to have a change from time to time. Dennis, the book I have, 'Pastel Painting, step by step, is by Search Press and is a combination of a few short books on pastel including two by Paul Hardy, there are several step by step demos in it, which I Find a bit tedious and go straight to the end one!

I think he was an ex Methodist minister turned artist.He wrote a couple of books for search press on pastel painting.
