Many thanks for your encouragement everyone. Yes Fiona it is a pastel, there has been some nice pastel work posted recently, so I thought I would have a go and I enjoyed it!

What great use of pastel - something I've not tried and haven't had any particular desire to do but this sets me thinking.

Many thanks Michael. I think you would like using pastel. It is much easier to use Intially than watercolour, no worries over drying times or muddy washes, of course it's equally hard to paint a really good one! I enjoy having a break from w/c now and then and do a few pastels and I always seem to be refreshed when I go back to watercolour. You can also add pastel to a watercolour which has gone a little wrong to improve it and then call it mixed media!
