Italian Garden at Mount Edgecumbe ( Nr Plymouth) Sold
Landscape number two. During this painting I became very appreciative of Canalletto. Those balustrades made me wish I had never started the painting. Starting with a quick watercolour sketch en plein aire, I worked on this acrylic version back at home. Both the lightest and darkest parts of the picture were in the back hedge, wihich made the aerial perspective very hard to achieve.
