Wow Linda this is a beauty. I absolutely adore the background rocks too, the polyfiller and impasto help to give a really 3D effect.

Out of the hundreds of thousands of gannets at Bass Rock I chose this one for my ref photo, which I took on a recent trip. I have used polyfiller on plywood as a base for the rocks and impasto. Gel for the bird. Watercolour soaked into the polyfiller and acrylic for the bird. 10x12 inches.
