Lovely picture, good depth and depiction of the sunshine. It has a lovely, 'end of a good day' feeling. Only thing missing is the glass of wine.

Thanks Susan - It was a dilemma whether to put something on the table (wine bottle, book, reading glasses etc) or not. My thought in the end was that if I put something "personal" in the painting it might feel as if somebody was already sitting there. I wanted the viewer to feel as if they could walk up to the table, sit down and enjoy the view. Perhaps I need to do a 2nd version and see how it feels!

I agree this has a lovely summery feeling to it Jocelyn, very apt for the weather we re having this week!

Delicate colours, nice feel to the painting, captures the moment

The depth of view works very well Jocelyn and I can image getting the chairs just right may have been a tricky part of it. You have done this really well though, but with pastels not being my medium all I can say is "simply lovely".

Very nice. You've captured the light really well and the subject is great. A bare table is probably better because there are no distractions from the view.

Hi Jocelyn, I see what you mean about the empty table being an invitation to the viewer and I agree with you it was best to leave it empty. Something on the table would have excluded the viewer. I think your choice of open structure of the table and chairs helps to draw the eye through them to the scene too. You have shown me valuable tips for my own paintings. Thanks. I hope I can put them into practice in as good a way as you have.

What a lovely spot & you have captured it beautifully
