Well done for your first acrylic! It is a lovely media and I'm sure you will enjoy it in the future.

I like this very much especially the colour palette you've used. Well done!

I love the colours and you should be very proud of yourself......it's great.

It is so exciting to find that I have some comments. Thank you very much. I wasn't sure of the picture because everyone else in the class did conventional apples! Next week we are starting landscapes. We have been asked to consider Turner and Constable but I am going to take in your 'Cornish Cliffs' Satu, Chris' 'Life's a Beach' and Stephen's 'West of Mallwyd' - if that is OK with you three. Does anyone know if the painters-online site has a place to store favourites? I don't know if this gets back to you so will put it in your portfolios too.

As I only started painting in January this year I am amazed that I can be included in the same sentence as Turner and Constable! Yes, please do take in West of Mallwyd, that was my first landscape ever! Don't think you can store favourites, but I could be wrong. Good luck with your art class.

Good luck with the landscape painting Sian. Like Stephen I am flattered! I too haven't been painting for very long, just retired and always promised myself I would have a go, now I'm hooked! A landscape artist that you may find interesting is Brian Cook who designed book covers for Batsfood during the 1930's to 1950's.

Hi Sian, painting's looking good! :) Have a look at redbubble.com,it covers everything and everyone,a great site for inspiration! Good luck.

Will look at redbubble and Brian Cook now. More advice very welcome. I'm glad I found this site. Thank you all very much.

I'm flattered Sian and of course you can use my paintings as inspiration. Chris, Stephen and I are waiting for the result!! Paint well and be yourself. Satu

Fantastic Sian. It is refreshing to find a new artist who is willing to express herself in her own way and not follow the masses. You have the makings of a unique artist. I like this painting. I too am fond of painting still life's in an unconventional way so it appeals to me. Keep going please. We all wait with anticipation for your landscape. I hope it has a touch of this abstract style to it. Your apples are great. Jx

Sian, where is the promised landscape? We are waiting. Sx

I'm a bit scared of the landscape as my teacher made me do it on a big canvas! I've started it but my 'acrylics for beginners adult ed class is on half term now' so I've been drawing leaves instead and have put those in my drawing portfolio. Thanks for your support Satu.

Good for you, girl....I am impressed by your enthusiasm and originality of thought. As I said before.....keep going!

I am pleased that you like my painting enough to refer to it when trying to find your own style. I especially like your colourful paintings. I have been painting for years but my own style seems to change with every picture. I will paint one that I am satisfied with and several that get tucked away. Some times I can see what is wrong with them later, other times they get recycled. Good luck and Happy Christmas, janet Davies, Devon.

I always find it interesting to read about the rest of you. I gave up art when I had to chose between it and maths at 'school. I then gave it a go when I retired and have found it a fascinating hobby, enabling me to view with new eyes, to visit art galleries with greater interest, to sometimes haveā€¦
