Hi Slan, nice portrait, good try with the coloured pencils, possibly try a blender, may help with your texture.

A good one again! (Did you know that when men get older their ears grow bigger?) Coloured pencils sound quite difficult but you seem to have done well with them. I don't know what a blender looks like but might be an idea if you want to do more pencil work.

Try Daler-Rowney's cartridge paper, the stuff they sell in those red and yellow covers - (they also do a heavyweight paper): it's the best all-round drawing paper I've ever used. Keep drawing away in the meantime - just be careful of proportions when drawing portraits: this one is quite expressive, but there's a lot of nose, and rather narrow eyes.

Thank you Peter, Satu and Robert for your kind and helpful comments. I can see now you point it out that the ear is too small and the eyes too close together. Why couldn't I see it myself? ! Your comments are most gratefully received. I shall look out for the materials you have mentioned. And indeed keep drawing though at the moment I feel quite 'drawinged out' after the intensity of doing three portraits and two homeworks.

PS I really enjoyed doing the portraits.

Last drawing in the 3 morning course. Coloured pencils. We had a choice of medium so I thought I would have a go at different things. Maybe need to iron my paper? !
