If this is your first portrait, I think its brilliant - love it.

That is very good indeed!!

Well done you and especially as a first portrait, I really like how you've applied the paint and your use of colour

Love how you’ve managed to transfer your style to portraits so successfully Shaun. Great use of pastel marks and I love how you’ve brought out her character and expression so beautifully. The eyes say so much and the mouth is also so sensitively accomplished.

Excellent portrait. Considering the size of passport photos you have done a great job.

Beautiful first portrait Shaun. Well done.

Great work Shaun.

That’s really good Shaun. You’ll have to do more portraits now!

Many thanks - Hillary, David, Heather, Carole, Spencer, Andrew, Rikke, George and Majorie.

My Mother- I found a small passport photo of my mother and felt I have always wanted a portrait of her. I have not tried portrait painting before but here is the result.

About the Artist

I try to achieve vibrant colours in my paintings. I work intuitively with large flat brushes - I also try not to overwork my pictures and they are often completed in two sittings. I use good quality acrylics because of their excellent pigment content. I like to interpret what i see in front of me…
