Sounds like you really suffered for your art and what a super result painted so quickly and all the better for it.

Beautiful watercolour Seok!

Wow, a painting with a story. I agree with Michael, you really have suffered. Beautiful subject, composition and a wonderful variation of greens (always my weakest point). Stunning work and I love to read about your travelling to so many different places all over the world!

Super, quickly painted watercolour, I love the light tree surrounded by the dark conifers. Hotels that were formerly soviet run still have not really caught on with the idea of the customer always being right, have they?

You do see the world in most wonderful places Seok! Not so exciting about the food but you survived and painted this beautiful watercolour. In 45 minutes!!!! Incredible! Your pine trees are superb!

Fantastic waercolour, lovely composition Seok

Your paintings are an education Seok for those of us who aren't so well travelled! My eldest son is living and working in Sofia, Bulgaria at the moment. Whilst he and his family are enjoying a very good expat lifestyle we are well aware of the legacy of communism when we visit. Thank you so much for taking the trouble to look and comment on my recent postings.

This is lovely Seok, and that negative tree on the left is marvellous.

Great painting....amazing in what you achieve in so little time. I seem to take forever! Well done you!

Beautifully done Seok, especially so in the limited time scale. The trees are super!

45 mins!! Now you're showing off, lol! I am amazed that anyone could produce such an accomplished and finished work like this in such a short space of time and it is testament to your talent that you can do this with ease. The little gazebo is beautiful and the trees.... ah, the trees - they are superb.

You have certainly made the most of your time travel. Beautifully done and so much better than just taking a photograph.

I like your commentary - which made me snort into my gin and tonic - almost as much as I like the painting: I shall avoid that travel agent!

Beautifully painted as always. Lovely greens.

Thanks so very much, everyone!

Really smashing Seok, just a bit mystifed about the pile of something in the right foregrond - logs? Love your notes and the travelogue

A little gazebo surrounded by conifers on the grounds of the Okzhetpes Hotel in Borovoe National Park, Kazakhstan. The hotel was a former sanitarium in the Soviet era, used to treat patients with tuberculosis as it was believed that the aroma of the pines and other conifers was conducive to healing. The hotel was pretty dated and the food tasted like it came from a Soviet gulag (all courtesy of a dreadful Singapore travel agent which someone in our travel group used and which I would recommend only on pain of a slow and tortuous death). The only thing to commend the place was the pristinely beautiful surroundings, so I tried to make the best of it. Painted in about 45 minutes, en plein air.
