This is stunning! Wonderful harmonious colours

Absolutely perfect. :)

Beau-ti-ful!!!! Stunning!!

This is superb Seok , looking at your gallery you do seem to have added something to your paintings lately , perhaps you have more confidence in yourself , I don't know but I like the end result. : )

Thank you everyone for your very kind and generous comments! William, thank you for your compliment. You are probably right that I am more confident now than a couple of years back. That is because I started in oils, and the transition to watercolor was excruciating! It took me a long time to understand the medium and its qualities. I think it's only in the past year that I'm finally coming to terms with it. I attended a workshop last year with the artist Paul Banning, which helped tremendously, because he is a fantastic teacher and he helped me by simply removing the opaque and semi opaque colors from my watercolor box, which made all the difference. Since last year, I also started painting 4 days a week in watercolor (instead of once a week), which helped me to understand and feel how the paint worked on paper. I also don't fight losing battles anymore by trying to salvage failed pieces and creating mud but will start all over again afresh (one of the most painful things for an oil painter who's used to covering up with another layer of paint!) Nevertheless, I still regress frequently, as with this painting. Knowing full well that the Arches Hot Pressed Paper does not take well to masking fluid, I used masking fluid anyway for the grass, with the predictable result that the masking fluid removed all the various layers of color, leaving me with one white mess, and 4 days of having to carve out the individual blades of grass! I felt like a right twat!

This is beautiful Seok, as everyone says, the colour, the grass and the solitary Heron. (I might add he's got brothers and sisters that regularly visit my fish pond!). I recognise your work immediately now - it's a real pleasure to look at congratulations.

A superb painting - and all the more so after reading your about your mishap! What patience and what talent as it's a beautiful work. Thanks for posting, Avie.

Lovely texture in the grass, well done.

Thank you very much, Brenda, Avril and Lesley! I really appreciate your comments.

This is stunning! I realise that you find watercolour more of a challenge than oils but I wonder which medium you prefer? Also what size is this lovely painting?

Thank you very much, Louise! The painting is approximately 16" x 12". I really haven't the courage to try anything much bigger!

PS. As for which medium I prefer, I think at this moment, watercolors, because I am by nature impatient and like to see the finished product fast! But I am lately rediscovering my love for oils. I definitely prefer oils for flowers and still life, probably because I know what to do with it!

wonderful gallery seok very clean paintings

Beautiful, love the structure of the grass.

Thank you very much, Tony and Carole! You're both very kind.

This is beautiful, so elegant and that grass must have taken forever, I love it. I painted a heron quite recently in watercolour but, unlike yours, I'm afraid mine wasn't worthy of posting. LOL Thank you so much for your advice on my oil landscape, I shall attempt to do as you suggested.

Thank you very much, Val!

Absolutely beautiful, Seok, so gentle and graceful.

Thank you very much, Benita!

This really is a stunning painting.
