Excellent work Seok , Without the colourful robes these scenes could be quite dull but your composition and clever use of colour have made it anything but . Great watercolour.

You certainly are taking us on a trip around the world with your paintings. This is so very - well....... Egyptian! Flowing robes, colours, bustling people and the magnificent ruins. Just perfect. P.S. I spent much of my childhood in Egypt as my father was in the RAF and was posted there just before and during the Suez trouble, so this remind me of that time.

Fantastic. A very high quality image. Nothing more to say really! My father, also in the RAF was there during suez. The buggers shot at him!

Seok Yam, This is so good. You manage to put just right amount of bright colour into your painting. Very pleasing to the eye. Very well done...

Beautiful as always the people are just great, look forward to the next travel painting:)Linda

Tony, had a similar experience as my father alternated between Cyprus and Egypt and in Cyprus a couple of the Eoka terrorists did actually shoot my father in the head and damned nearly killed him. We were evacuated home with him.

Thank you everyone, for your very kind and encouraging comments. William and Ping, I'm really glad you liked the colors. The original photo from which I painted was very drab - the place was just inundated with modern day tourists, who really didn't look very interestting to me, so I used photos of Egyptians in traditional garb and painted them in. They certainly had more interesting postures and clothing! Thea and Tony. it's my first time in Egypt, which was never high on my list of travel priorities, but I was invited by a group of friends and decided to go, and I'm very glad I did. It's a visiual feast for every aspiring artist!

Lovely work Seok Yam, I was there a couple of years ago whilst on a Nile cruise and found it utterly beautiful. I know what you mean about the crowds, your scene here works very well with local people.

Hi Seok - I was planning a cruise down the nile for this year but with the current situation I think I will pass. All very sad for such a country steeped in history. Thea - My father was also stationed in Nicosia, Cyprus. I was only three, so don't remember it at all. When my Dad first arrived there, he was issued with pistol and sten gun, and had to carry them at all times. When he got home, my mum understandably burst into tears. And yes they shot at him too! For all I know - you were in the RAF quarters next door - a small world! Seaok - please forgive our banter on your gallery - it can't detract from a fine painting!

Love that architecture and the array of colour at the base. brilliantly detailed.

Thank you very much, Lesley and Carole! And Tpny, no problem. I too feel it is very sad for the country snd its people, I missed the bombing in Alexandria by just a week, so I'm glad to have gone when I did.

Glad you are safe and well, Seok. There is nothing for me to say after all those lovely (and emotional) comments: I love your subjects and your style. Wonderful and stunning!

Thank you very much, Mia!

Thank you very much, Kirstie! I am glad I made it there before the recent upheavals. I very much miss your postings though. Wish we could still see your latest works.

Thank you very much, Jamie!

great composition and really beautiful painting. I love the contrast of the warm stone and colourful figures. Actually I love all of your travelogue pictures. I've only found them today (not been using the site that long) and have really enjoyed looking through them.. I feel really inspired to have a go at turning some of my travel pictures into paintings!

Thank you very much, Ellie!
