I have recently acquired a Gelli plate too Seok but so far haven't produced anything that hasn't been binned! I find it a very 'messy' business but you and my friend Julie Bosley who also uses one successfully have inspired me to persevere! Love those whippet shapes against the dark blues of the background. Excellent!

This is a really interesting piece of work. It makes you look closely to see how it has been done and then there are the lovely whippets against the calligraphy background to enjoy. It does look very hard to achieve a good result, but you have definitely done that in spades.

I have just watched a video about Gelli plate printing and it looks like something I would like to try. Your attempt and result Seok is absolutely charming! After the video I can appreciate how much work it might take to produce one good print. Very well done !! Do I have to go and buy a Gelli plate now?

Thanks Christine, Thea and Satu! And yes, Satu, you need to get a Gelli plate right this minute! Just imagine the endless possibilities that a Gelli plate will generate with an artistic talent as creative as yours!

Oh Christine, messy is an understatement! My dining room is currently littered with paper doilies, stamps, magazine pages, newspapers, and loads and loads of crumpled failed projects! This is probably no. 15 of a series of disasters, and I can't imagine the number of forests that would have been denuded if I didn't have Andy Skinner's video to refer to!

Not heard of this before but it looks fascinating Seok, all 15 disasters were worth the effort as this looks so accomplished! Off to Google Andy Skinner now ! lol

Super interesting work here Seok! The bottom background section is fabulous.

Thanks very much, Debs and Louise!

Seok, I rushed to my local art shop and they hadn't even heard about Gelli! They then googled it and found it very interesting but after having seen the price the girls said that the owner wouldn't have it in the shop because it would be too expensive. I'll have to order it online!

What a fascinating piece...It is the first time i have come across this method, it does work well. Love your whippet outlines.

Really interesting seeing all these techniques, the result is great and original.

That's different, well done! I have no idea how this is produced but your skills as always are very evident. Love the colour and form on the dogs.

Thanks very much, Ruth, David and Lesley!

Oh my , Seok! What a splendid result! I shall have to investigate the approach you use as I really don't know much about the process. Looking forward to seeing more.

Very interesting never heard of this before, will have to look into it, but you've made a good job, will look out for more from you.

Thanks very much, Sarah and Kevin!

As I was trawling through all the pages I have to catch up with I saw your next piece. I did see this earlier in the week, but didn't have time to comment. I looked up the video. Very interesting and I recognised the technique in the next piece. I really like the bold simplicity of this. It takes a lot of working out for this type of thing to be successful.

Thanks very much, Gudrun! Yes, you're absolutely right about taking a lot of working out. Took me 15 tries!

Another striking piece Seok, I love those whippets.

Just looked at all four monoprints and I must say I'm very impressed. You have produced such lovely textured images - I think my fovourite is the eagle. And you're the perfect example to us of determination; "If at first you don't succeed then try, try and try again" ! And it's true.

Trying out monoprinting using my newly acquired Gelli plate. I was inspired by Andy Skinner's video and copied his process and use of stencils to create this piece. It's very interesting - as with most things, much more difficult than it appears on Youtube. Too much paint, too little paint, wrong color, masks not properly in place, you name the problem, I've run into it! A lot of paper went into the bin before I came up with this version. I used Golden Heavy Body acrylic paint, stencils, stamps and home made whippet masks for this piece.
