Beautiful colour in this Seok. I’m sure you will conquer your Everest. What surface are you using please

Well, I like this - you're very brave!

I like this, Seok, lovely colours. I also wondered what paper you’re using.

Good luck with your classes, Seok. This certainly is a lovely start. I like Chinese and Japanese painting very much and I are often inspired by it.

Lovely.

I like this; I really admire Chinese brush painting, would love to have a go one day.

An epic challenge Seok, I’m sure you will meet it head on, and succeed. A marvellous start, I look forward to sharing your journey, well the easy part, enjoying looking at the fruits of your labour.

beautiful minimalist work Seok.

Thank you very much for your very kind comments, everyone! Hilary and Jenny, I am using Chinese rice paper. I don't know the brand as I bought it off a shop that I'd serendipitously walked past. It has very interesting qualities - painting on the dry paper is like painting wet on wet, with the paint automatically spreading in the paper.

Finally decided to tackle my personal Everest a few months ago and signed up for some Chinese painting classes. It's really a whole different world - a different way of holding the brush, a different way of viewing the world (apparently an ugly take on a fish is acceptable, but my ugly calligraphy is not) and a different type of paper, ink and watercolor. At this stage, it definitely feels like it's a long climb ahead, hence the title of this painting.
