Jill, this smashing use of the knife, perfect subject. Just a bit bothered there are not many curved rocks, but don't know not having been there.

Thank you for your comments Derek, the rocks here are really very angular, some of the ones on the top level are a little smoother.

This is beautifully painted Jill.

Love the texture of these rocks. I don't see Hathersage mentioned often. My son was married there. Diana

Nicely done Jill great colours, you have really captured the atmosphere of the place, great tonal work I know the area well and you have done it justice, nice one.

Thanks Jill I thought so. Still a lovely piece.

This is a painting in water mixable oil using a pallette knife. Padley Gorge is in the Peak District just outside Sheffield and just off the road to Hathersage. It reminds me of childhood, as a young girl my parents would pick me up from school and we would picnic next to the stream on the upper level. It is one of those fab areas with rocks and boulders which you can use to dam the stream and make deep pools!
