"Every Woman to the Rope" The Recovery of the Cresswell lifeboat.
One of my first acrylic paintings. Inspired by the story of the ladies of this village who each had their allotted place on the ropes to haul the lifeboat out of the surf. As the boat was seen to be coming back the cry went round the village "Every Woman to the Rope". Exhibited at the RSMA summer exhibition in 1983 and later at the Earls Court boat show.
