Smashing colours and composition Satu, but the ship doesn't weem to have a prow or bow, (pointed end) LOL

Quite right too Derek! I checked the photo and there is a figure that I haven't noticed at all!! Well spotted,I have to add it later! Thanks Derek!

Super Satu, you have captured the milling crowd extremely well, those flashes of turquoise do the trick. I wouldn't know a prow from a bow, but its definitely a ship.

You've got the scale and contrasts, which are the most important features of the composition, but you can easily add the prow - you see, everyone: there are advantages to posting your work here!

No prob Satu. I did mean to add that the figures are smashing - colours and positions. We all help each other in here.

Those figures are just fabulous Satu. I think I'd be tempted to leave it 'prowless' but I wouldn't know a prow if I fell over one and therefore wouldn't have known it was missing! It could be a talking point, Satu's prowless ship. lol . It really is a super painting though.

Thank you so much Sharon, Robert, Derek and Louise for lovely comments! Perhaps we can pretend that the prow has fallen off!

Challenge taken on - challenge met - love it even prowless.

This could turn into one of those famous paintings that people talk about and discuss in future!

Thank you Michael! Louise, you're so funny!

I think I have to rename the whole thing. Tall Ship with a missing prow!

This must have been so difficult to paint Satu, all those figures, masts, rigging and perspective! You've made a magnificent job of it and, like Louise, I wouldn't have known the prow was missing!

Quite different from most of your work but definitely a "Satu" ! The textures are there and the wonderful colours, another super piece.

Great composition and colours - love it as it has real impact Satu

Thank you very much Christine, Avril, Lynne and Dennis for your kind comments!

I'm catching up....this is brilliant! Love the way you have caught the crowd of people.

Thank you Fiona and Gudrun!

This must have been a very difficult painting for all sorts of technical reasons, but you don't seem to have been phased by it at all and have produced an excellent work with great contrast in light and lots of interest in the crowds in the foreground. Love the sky as well - it has that wonderful whispy look that is typical when there is a gentle breeze blowing. Great stuff, Satu.

Thank you very much Thea for your kind comment!

Painted from a photo and what really inspired me was the contrast between light and dark and also the challenge to paint the people. Acrylic on board 60cm x 70cm.
