It would be interesting if you also tried this in just watercolour, using slightly bolder colors and at least 140lb paper say 10" x 7" for starters. Using a small piece of paper means you can experiment a little without much loss if it does not work. This is a nice study so well done

Hi Neil, Thank you very much for your kind comments, I have almost missed this one. At the moment I use both w/c paints and pencil together. I like both mediums for their different qualities. For some reason I prefer to work on a larger scale, even if I work in pencil only. Adding watercolour makes it easier to cover a large surface and also produces interesting results even on non w/c paper. I hope as I get more experience with w/c I will move towards using paints only. When I try working only in w/c I find it easier to control on a large scale than on a smaller one. Of course there is the cost of paper to consider if it goes all terribly wrong.

This was done from a reference photo. Format A2. On W&N Medium surface cartridge paper 220gsm. White Nigts w/c for under- washes. W/c pencil and Prismacolor pencil layers on top.
