Autumn scene by Sarah Stanley

Beautiful tones and colours Sarah.

Love the soft gentle colours and the slightly misty air of autumn, you have portrayed Sarah.

Your brushwork and use of colour is always excellent

Gorgeous, Sarah. Love the simplicity of colour and form. As always, less is more.

Lovely softness Sarah.

Absolutely gorgeous Sarah!

So subtle Sarah. Your work is instantly recognisable.

This is the kind of painting that makes me stop to have a proper look. I love it.

Poetic and lovely. I particularly like the dark, rich vermillion under the roofs. Carried a bit further to carry the eye? Dunno. The diagonal of your fence leading to the tree and then making a partial "Z" to the buildings makes for a terrific composition.

An absolute delight to look upon Sarah. It has a beautiful harmony.

Thanks so much for the comments! Lynne, thanks, the vermilion was not intentional, I think I used it for the underneath, then adjusted the colour, leaving bits poking through. The fence was a deliberate addition to lead the eye.

Oh, but the vermillion is gutsy adding depth and strength to your beautiful painting.

About the Artist
Sarah Stanley

I have always enjoyed messing with paint in many mediums and draw inspiration from various subjects. I do commissioned pet portraits in pastel on velour paper and oils. But the thing I enjoy most is oil painting en plein air and still life. I am inspired by Victorian and contemporary Impressionism…
