This is astonishing - I know Appaloosas well. Everything about it is first class but I particularly like the way you've captured the nose and mouth and, of course, the horse's hair and coat. Love the choice of background colour too which sets the horse off fabulously.

I painted this commission a little while back. I've painted a fair number of horses but this was the first Appaloosa that I'd ever tackled. The patterning was really challenging as the spots are not distinct but merge with the surrounding coat. I have to say I loved every minute of this one. Oil on board, 16 x 20".
