This was my first attempt at something Botanical .Because the flower is Yellow leaving the bacground white looked wrong I wanted it to pop out the page so chose this vivid green as I didn't want to put in the surrounding flowers and take away the focus from the main subject. Next time I do this type of piece I will try Janet Whittle's background ideas from Junes Leisure Painter as they really inspired me to do better.
