i think the foliage is excellent, especially the grasses on the left. a fine painting.......but......... I have difficulty establishing where the source of light is? From the shadow on the ground (under the tunnel) I'm guessing from the left/back? In order to create a strong sunlight effect, you might consider darker shadow areas. Some artist or other said "without dark, you don't have light". There is very little shadow on the building. That would help, and make the building a little more solid. But all in all, a good painting and i envy those grasses!

Many thanks for your comments, I do agree with you about the lack of depth to the building. There could be more of a cast shadow on the right of the building . I found it difficult to paint something that did not appear in the photo, which I suppose was one of the aims of the exercise!

My attempt at the february painting challenge, I think I overworked the foreground foliage but tried to achieve a summery feel to the picture. 10" x 14" not paper.
