This one narrowly escaped the bin! This subject was really too complicated for me, but the reference photo (by John Robinson on PaintMyPhoto) was just too good to not try. The title refers to the mythological tale of Arethusa who bathes in a stream, not realising it is actually the God Alpheus, who falls in love with her... It is predominantly watercolour with gouache used for the background leaves and some water detail.
