Certainly has light - I find one of the things that can dull a painting is that we tend to put too much colour into the sky at the horizon, eg deep blues where blue wouldn't (generally) be deep at all; and this dictates the rest of the colour scheme, and tends to darken it. Doesn't apply to this painting, where you've offset a quite strong blue with the variegated reds of the barn roof and bright foreground washes, but maybe that's one reason why you've found your watercolours have been a bit dull?

Lovely washes in this Roy, and love the barn and vegetation that is a good brighter colour and contrasts well with the foreground colour

And a really good attempt too - great use of colour Roy

I wish I could get light into my paintings like this Roy, great washes.

It was the light and warmth that drew me to this. Lovely use of colour too.

Lovely watercolour Roy

A lovely feeling of sunlight and warm summer days, Roy.

My watercolours have lately become rather dull so I'm making an effort to make fairly high key paintings. First attempt. This barn id on Bredon Hill, Worcs. at the top of Bells Castle Lane.
