Eileen - study in charcoal

Comments

A great job done on both Ron, the subject here attracts me more, the face is very interesting. The feather is excellent - I can see what you mean about the veil, how to tackle that….but you did it well. A thought… ( and I haven’t seen the original ) maybe a touch of white gently across it, though I think you may have done that.

Well done, especially the delicacy of the veil

Very nicely done Ron. I particularly like the delicacy of the veil.

Stunning and that veil is awesome

Great charcoal Ron.

Such a beautiful portrait Ron.

Two top studies. I like this one in particular.

Thank you all for your encouraging comments. Marjorie, I used white to adjust the tones of the skin mainly, however, in a couple of areas it does highlight the veil.

Eileen, 1892 by Tom Roberts - study in charcoal. Interesting to try drawing a veil using charcoal. A study of work by one of Australia’s best known impressionists.
