Trafalgar Square in the Rain

Trafalgar Square in the Rain

Trafalgar Square in the Rain. Original oil painting on canvas by Roger Turner. 50.8 cm x 40.6 cm.

This composition is based on a cropped photograph that I took while waiting in the rain for the National Gallery to open its doors. It is part of a series of paintings, all of which are produced from reference material from two rainy and overcast days in the capital. The figures in the foreground are as they were in the original image. II particularly liked this view with its watery reflections and the eye being drawn towards Westminster and Big Ben.
This was painted directly onto the canvas without any underdrawing. It is also a slightly looser style that I have been producing of late.

A lovely piece, beautifully composed with a super palette.

This is super Roger. I like your attention to detail and the colourfulness of this work despite the rain.

Love this and great detail
