A wel known scene and well done too, except for the colour of the water. Bit too blue for down there.

Perhaps a valid criticism, Derek. Although I was trying to idealize the scene, it probably needs more indigo, Prussian Blue and Paynes Grey in the water. At the time of writing it is still work in progress...

An eye-catching painting this one Roger, and very detailed. Have to agree with Derek about the blue water.

I will probably give the water a glaze to tone it down somewhat, but I do not want to mute it too much. A slightly later image can be seen with it in a frame on my website here: http://www.rogerturnerart.com/images/Art/Weymouth2.JPG

I am not normally drawn to very accurate and lifelike paintings, but there is something very special about the way you work and what you produce. Perhaps it is the clean look you achieve, or perhaps the lovely bright colours.... all I know is that I find this painting very attractive.

PS I just love the blue water - does it in spades for me.

Thank you so much, Thea. I seem to be doing a lot of very colourful paintings at the moment - I like looking at the world through rose coloured spectacles from time to time and I like to try to create impact. My next project however is a different kettle of fish: A large 1220 x 550mm panorama painting of the London skyline and the river Thames on a dreek, dull and low cloud base day, with lots of muted tones and colours. Still loads of detail though......

Weymouth is a seaside town and tourist resort in Dorset, England, halfway along the Jurassic Coast, to the north east of Portland in Weymouth Bay at the mouth of the river Wey. It has long been a draw for holidaymakers with its long sandy beach, bustling town and the picturesque and historic Georgian Weymouth Old Harbour, which has a long seafaring history. The harbour used to have a tramway to transport produce to the main railway station in the 19th century and was used until the late 1980s for passenger trains taking people to the Quay station to catch ferries for Europe. The tracks still exist, running along the old harbour, with special trains occasionally using it.
