Red door and bins

Comments

Nice sketch, I like the fact you haven't edited out the 'bin blight'.

Art in everything Roger - like your use of blue, holds everything together

Thanks, Andrew and Heather. The bright red door attracted me first. Such a contrast to the dull colour of the stone. Then I realised that the bold colours of the bins would balance the picture and make it a truly "urban sketch" in keeping with the group I was with yesterday. I had just a few watercolour pencils with me and no dark green. I had to use the blue to achieve the dark tones in the foliage. I realised that the blue link to the wheelie bin was a positive to come out of necessity.
