I really like this, Roger - beautiful. You have captured the colours of the islands beautifully.

Great work Roger.

I'm a bit the same, don't know what this was like before but it's very good now - the dabbing of the brush strokes makes the eye move around to look.

Two smashing paintings Roger but this one is really fabulous. Love the loose treatment of the land from the foreground to the distant hills, the roughness of that landscape is spot on. As are the colours and the Croft’s dotted here and there. A beauty!

Thank you all. I'd tried to make it more abstract, which isn't me. The sky had some angular shapes in it and Eaval was just a flat triangle in the distance. So I softened the edges in the sky, scumbled some bluish grey over Eaval and the most distant moorland and then picked out a few lights and darks to lead the eye across the moor. I made more of the furthest croft house. I'm much happier with it now.

16" x 16" oil on canvas. I've re-worked this recently. I seem to be in a phase of spotting what it is I'm not happy with and taking remedial action.
