16" x 20" oil on canvas. Last week I stumbled on the work of David Atkins and was hugely impressed. I decided to paint a familiar Hebridean beach from a watercolour painted en plein air in 2009 but to drop the horizon to allow for a dramatic, painterly sky. I'm going to try more using this approach.
