I like the perspective and composition you've chosen to illustrate the beautiful sandy coastline Roger, I haven't looked the place up but by the colour of the sea is it the western isles? Do you stick to your pastel sketches to the letter or do you find the subject evolves from the original work?

Really great piece love the perspective.

Thank you both. Fiona, Bagh a Deas (South Bay) Vatersay. I used the on-the-spot pastel which I uploaded a couple of weeks ago. Wanted to emphasise the dark Prussian Blue/almost black rocks, orange seaweed and almost white sand, so the colours are exaggerated and textures based on pastel but not to the letter. Square format oil from tall portrait-format pastel changed the shapes slightly. This was me wanting to go abstract but, when push comes to shove, I've got to paint something real. Focusing in makes it "sort-of-semi-abstract"!!

Thank you, Margaret. Your comment must have arrived while I was typing.

I think the choice of exaggerated colours gives it impact Roger.

Splendid piece of work Roger

Another superb piece, with excellent brushwork.
