Do you work from your own reference material, as obviously these aren't 'live' poses? It's incredibly difficult to attain that level of detail and blending using a painting knife, I would be very interested to see a work in progress. They do have a certain photographic look about them, which is presumably your intention.

Thanks Alan. I switched to a knife 15 years ago to save time. I use a mix of mine and video / photo's from friends - photographers, dancers and musicians. I have a contract with Getty and have also collaborated with Time Inc and Vogue amongst others. I only mix raw colours on the canvas. Most figures apart from those with a chiaroscuro technique are in up to 3 layers.

Thanks for the quick response Richard, not my personal style of working or subject as I'm mainly impressionist landscape, but I do admire the skills necessary. I have no doubt that they are very popular and sought after! One problem with posting in blocks of four is that it does limit the amount of comments that one receives, if that is your intention.

Following Alan's posting, it would be very instructive, one day, to see not four new paintings, but four 'snapshots' of the same work in progress. Many of us are here to learn how others produce works that we can only apsire to.

I to am quite intrigued with your way of working you produce amazing work . Works in progress would be lovely.
