Well Richard! Where to begin, this is a glorious painting in acrylic, the amount of detail in the ships, the movement and refections in the water, the vivid sunset, the wooden pier, the dolphin and of course the dog, who would be intently watching the dolphin wishing he could get in the water as well probably, everything is painted beautifully, excellent job

I agree with Ros P. A very tranquill scene with a lot of interest. Masterfully painted as are all the paintings in your gallery.

Wow Richard, I stand in awe! That sky is superb and the rest of it is pretty special too!

Absolutely superb. I cannot praise this work enough.

Thank you all for your generous praise. I'm pleased that you like it. I have to admit that the sky was pretty straight forward. My short hog filbert did the job it was supposed to ("scrubbing" in the clouds). That's why I love acrylics. However, the water was a real challenge, especially as my reference photos had a speedboat parked on the nearby jetty, blocking out the foreground. I also added the sun (it was hidden), so I had to make up the sunlight and boat reflections. Thanks again.

This is beautiful Richard.

Thanks, Denise. I enjoyed looking through your gallery. Like me, you obviously like detail!

Wonderful as always

Thanks, Lesley. Much appreciated.

Absolutely stunning.

During our stay we visited Charleston, South Carolina with some close friends and stayed in a large resort hotel in Mount Pleasant, which is just east of Charleston Harbour across the Cooper River. As the base for the local shrimp boat fleet, Shem Creek is the place to go for fresh sea food. We ate a superb meal at 'RB's' and spent time enjoying the view of the numerous small watercraft and kayakers cruising along the creek. That evening, I decided to take some photographs of the shrimping boats and these are what I used as references for this painting. As is often the case, the sunset was spectacular and this view was just begging to be painted. The two boats shown in this painting are well known in the area. In addition to fishing, 'Winds of Fortune' also takes tourists on harbour cruises. 'Mrs Judy Too' is a 70ft b
