Beautifully painted in acrylic. Wonderful sea.

Love the sea. Not easy to get it looking so natural. Jean

Thanks for your kind comments. I used only 4 colours in this painting (other than the small amounts of other colours used for the decks and the sailors' clothing): white, prussian blue, cadmium yellow (hue) and my home made mix of neutral tint (50/50 raw unber + ultramarine). This made life a lot simpler, as it was easy to keep consistent tones.

18" x 24". ORIGINAL SOLD. AVAILABLE AS GICLÉE PRINTS. In 2008 I was invited by a friend to join him and some colleagues on a sailing trip to Croatia. There were eight of us altogether and we hired two yachts and a local guide for the week. Sailing out of Pula in Istria, we made our way south through the islands, stopping every night at various ports. We were fortunate to have great weather and good winds, which gave a week of exciting sailing. This scene is made up from a series of photographs taken from both boats and merged to show them sailing together close hauled into the wind. On the last day we were joined by some dolphins, which I have included in the painting. Please visit my web site at: www.richardharpum.com
