There nothing wrong with the painting.........it looks just like something I baked!!!

I was just wondering where you had got to! Nice to see you back and, I could eat some cake now.

Thanks so much for your encouraging, kind comment Helen :-) I appreciate it :-)

I lost my inspiration so stayed away for a bit Gudrun :-) thank you for welcoming me back :-) I hope you found yourself some cake to eat :-)

How nice to see you back Rebecca, I've missed seeing your colourful paintings. The cake looks yummy!

Thanks so much Christine for welcoming me back, i appreciate it :-) your comment has made me smile, thank you :-) im pleased you find my paintings colourful, and that you think the cake looks yummy :-)

There you are! Great to see you back Rebecca. I wouldn't mind trying a slice of your cake with the cup of coffee I'm having at the moment. The background grey and effect is just what I've been trying to get in my sky of the picture I'm doing at the moment....I'm jealous because it doesn't look as good as yours!

Hi Fiona :-) there i am, i mean, here i am :-p You are more than welcome to have a slice :-) but i think it may taste horrid :-) you are too kind with your comment of being jealous of the background effect, you have no need, it is rubbish :-p i wet the paper first, and then just added black and spread it out thinly in places :-) thank you for your encouragement and for welcoming me back :-) iv added your paintings gallery to RSS feeds, :-)

Hi Rebecca, another one glad to see you back. I wish I could make proper cakes look so delicious :) Keep at it, lots of lovely texture in this one. How do you find Sminke paints? I am very tempted to ask for some for Xmas but they are quite dear :)

Hi Rebecca, I am glad to see you posting again! I like your cake, but it looks like a lot of calories to me!

Hi Sarah :-) thanks so much for your welcome back :-) im really pleased you like the look of this cake.......... im not so keen, i think if i had left it white, perhaps it may have looked better. Too much fiddling i think :-) Schminck paints............ incredibly expensive :-p however.........the tube versions even the 5ml tubes, go very far because they are (for me anyway) very concentrated, so a little goes a long way. The pans are ok too, but i prefer the tubes because of them being more economical and easier to put onto a palette. I am of the thought that Schminck paints are for your best pieces of artwork, (they work fantastically with arches watercolour rough paper) :-p i know i know, more expense, but, they both work together so well, that whatever you paint, looks really good and you get a real inspiring feeling when using them both together. When the paint has dried on the palette, you can still use it perfectly, so much better than other brands iv tried. Perhaps a tiny, starter set would not be too expensive, you will feel very inspired i think :-) the only down side for me with the paints, is that some of the colours have dangerous elements in them, and im put off with the warning labels on them saying this pigment came from blah blah blah, and can cause cancer, it's a bit of a turn off.............. :-p I know Robert told me on one of my paintings that the danger level is incredibly low because there is only trace amounts, but reading the label will makes me not keen to buy a complete set of them. Not all of the schminck watercolours have the dangerous chemicals, so you could pick and choose............what i do like totally, are their acylics, because the constiancy is like a thick watercolour, sort of translucent in a way, and very very easy to use the watercolour technique with them. The Akademie range is i think the more expensive one, but the student quality is for me, (could not tell difference) :-p perhaps less expensive pigment is used :-)

Hi Julie :-) thank you Julie :-) i think you could be right about the calories :-p

Rebecca thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question about the schminke range :). Their colours seem more vibrant than other makes of paint. I was going to buy or ask for some for Christmas) but as some of them have dangerous elements in them I won't as I have already had a brush with cancer five years ago and so I had better not tempt fate. Now, you see I would not have known this except for asking you and I am grateful that you took the time and effort to tell me :) Happy painting :)

You are very welcome Sarah :-) you should have no problem with their acrylic paints though, iv not read any dangerous pigments or ingredients in those, and, perfect watercolour techniques can be achieved with them. as iv said, iv been told the levels are very low and oil paints etc can be dangerous, but that's why i don't use them, iv enough issues as it is :-p im glad to have helped. The red schminck watercolour in the african skirt paintings i paint, has not got health warnings. You would have to look at each individual tube. Not good if you buy online :-p the brusho is none toxic, artist quality, as iv gone on about, and is vibrant, not 100% lightfast, but good enough levels of lightfastness. Lyra aqua crayons, none toxic, 100% lightfast. Old holland im still testing, but they are sticky........ :-p if it helps, im pleased :-)

Thanks Rebecca :). You are right about oils being a bit iffy too and I use them so I may take a closer look at the Schminke and perhaps buy separate tubes as and when my paints run out. Anyway, looking forward to your food paintings, especially the cakes-They always make me want to raid a cake shop lol :)

Ara acrylics are vibrant inky paints too :-p yes good idea, separate individual tubes, the danger label in very tiny at the back bottom near crimp :-p im sort of abstract at the mo, but food may continue :-p il give the cake shops a rest :-p

I like this a lot, Rebecca - it's just the thing to go with a cuppa!

:-p Julie would agree with you i think :-p i do not think it would taste nice. Thanks Seok for the lovely compliment :-)
