Back to your three men in a boat...in this case two.. Bags of atmosphere. Another way of fixing charcoal is to spray with hair spray. Just hold your nose when you do it! :-)

Hi Sylvia :-) yes, back to the usual :-p personally i do not like boats (being in them that is) or the sea, it is too daunting for me, lovely from a huge distance :-) yet i still keep drawing boats on the sea :-p the hairspray is a good tip, thank you :-) i have tried in the past everything, and it dulls or, smears the work, so the hairspray may work better with the Nitram charcoal, like the water does. :-)

Good use of lines and tones, Rebecca!

thanks Seok :-) charcoal is tough, but with practise it is getting easier, i am having a go at fruit at the moment, like well, it is meant to be an apple, il be uploading it perhaps tomorrow :-)

I do not know if charcoal is considered drawing or pastel, so, sorry if i am in the wrong section. This is about A6 in size and i used Nitram charcoal, it is brilliant charcoal and the best charcoal i have come across, especially when you use it on very smooth paper like Clairefontaines 300gsm smooth paper i have used for this. I like it because i can fix it easily with water on a paintbrush, and the charcoal does not vanish. Hope you like it :-)
