I do like it alot but I think your last one was my favorite by a very tiny margin. I prefer the white against the red flower to the yellow. :)

ah ok Sarah :-) problem is the white is meant to be yellow :-) I relooked at the photo which is bad quality, and its whitey yellow, another photo shows clear yellow............ and i have red and yellow, so thought, ok, il do it as i see it, could be wrong thoug :-p any flower experts on here? :-p thanks for commenting :-)

I think the hibiscus stamen should be a creamy colour, (off white) rather than yellow. Only ever painted one and I don't think I have any reference material, if I find any I will let you know. One tip I can give you is to paint the stamen first and work the petals around it, that was the advice at one workshop I went to.

Glennis :-p of course! :-) thank you for looking :-) i did not wish to bug you, but i do think of you as the flower lady on here :-) i do have napals yellow, but its acrylic, and sort of watery acylic (thin) so i could get away with it as a watercolour i think, but is that still too yellow? il try looking at perhaps Kew Gardens for hibiscus examples......... i chose it because it looked simple............. :-p paint the stamen first....... that is certanly something i have not thought of :-) i hope i can try and achieve that, i tend to use a watersoluable sketchig pencil, and sketch the petals first, then the staman is last. i have trouble with making something fit one size of paper is that perspective or something else...........? is it just the stamen that is wrong? :-) thanks so much for helping, and advising :-) i do appreciate it :-)

Good advice from Glennis Rebecca. I would tone down the green leaves slightly too. But really your petal markings are so improved, well done.

Thanks Carole :-) i will try to make myself not be tempted to add in any Brusho watercolours, i will try to just use normal watercolours if i can........... :-p the green i think is not as natural as it should be, and when i mix it with, say, brown, it still is not that natural........... im looking on the site called http://www.arkive.org/philip-island-hibiscus/hibiscus-insularis/ it seems to be linked to the kew gardens site........ trying to get better images of it :-)

Thank you for the compliment but Carole is the Queen of the flowers, her paintings are incredible both botanical and others. Just practice Rebecca and you will improve you certainly have the determination. Well done.

so it's Carole i must bug then? :-p thanks for letting me know :-) i hope i am showing signs of improvement :-p took a break from hibscus yesterday and did butterflies, but today is back to hibiscus :-) thank you for looking at my paintings :-)

This is just 2 catan D'Ache watercolours, red, and yellow :-), oh, plus leaf and sea green for the leaves, and a little dark brown (brusho) black too for the centre with added black inktense (derwent) is this any better ? :-)
