A breath of fresh air - Weybourne (2)

a lovely loose painting, i like the folk story and the figures :-) the word 'smugglers' always reminds me of Enid Blytons stories of the Famous Five :-)

another joyful painting....so much colour, so much life.

Rebecca and Sylvia , Thank you very much. I always remember the "lashings of lemonade" from the Enid Blyton story books and I'm glad that you both like this painting and find it joyful :)

Fabulous sky, loose washes.....really like it Sarah.

A lively colourful painting Sarah and the info is interesting too.

Fiona. Gudrun and Carole Thanks for your comments. I enjoyed painting this but think that I must not paint any more boats for a while and so looking around for something new :}

Lovely, Sarah, and so much going on, I love the boat on the trailer, the lads with fishing rods, the sky, the shingle..............................

Glad you like it Jenny :)

Thank you Florence, much appreciated :)

Hang on Studio Wall

From sketches taken when the weather was warmer . Weybourne has alot of unusual equipment on the top of its steep shingle beach. Folklore has it that smugglers would be alerted to the customs or coastguards by watching the local mill sails. If they were moving around then the coast was clear and if they were stopped making a shape of a cross it meant that they could not land there .
