You say you're a realist painter, and I certainly don't quarrel with that description - but you seem to me to go a long way beyond 'realism', if any sort of photographic quality is associated with that word. I've seen a lot of 'realistic' paintings that bore my socks off, but you've got everything in this - tonal variation, marvellous catching of the light, sharp detail, recession, excellent colour sense - but never once do I think I'm looking at a mere photograph (and photographs can be good, he said hastily, but I really don't like paintings to be indistinguishable from them). It's just a brilliant piece!

this gives me a sense of place, a similar place I often see on my walks in Derbyshire Paula.
