Wonderful idea, Pippa... I tried decoupage recently, but I think you've done it the "proper" way. It looks like you've painted on top of the newspaper...? Perhaps I'll try that next time... I really like this painting.

Thanks it was fun to do . I glued the pages onto canvas board then covered with buff watercolour ground , under painting in watercolour then pastels on top .

Thanks for explaining how you did it, Pippa - that's helpful. I guess it would also work with an acrylic underpainting and oil paint on top...
