This is actually a print? Or a study for same? Either way, I like it.

Hi Robert, Yes, it's a linocut print. I like to keep things simple! Thanks for comment.

i love your rabbit......nice colours

Thanks Ruthy :)

Thanks Sylvia ;)

Good movement in the Rabbits running stance. He looks as if he is definitely on the way to somewhere. I went on a workshop not so long ago at Compton Verney and they showed us how to use a simple polystyrene sheet which you scratched into and then inked up to create what I suppose you would call a monoprint. I have never done linocut but I like the clean lines it creates here. Well done Peter.

Thanks Angela. Yes, I've been experimenting with foam boards, cardboard and other materials. The 'crude' stuff is fine for big-format letters and shapes, but I find lino has everything it takes from big statements to tiny marks of finesse. I have just taken receipt too of a Speedball product called Speedystamp. It's like lino but much softer (and pink). Used because of its ease, in schools I understand. Should be trying it out soon... ;)

Sounds interesting Peter. I liked the idea of being able to try out different colour schemes without redrawing my image. I'm not too good at drawing and have a tendancy to rush onto the colourful picture stage because that is what I enjoy most. I am looking forward to seeing how you get along. You are right about the polystyrene it was quite crude and tended to bobble on a line, but even so it was surprizing how effective and sophisticated some of the images were. Bye

I enjoy toying with negative spaces and this rabbit's colour is derived from the paper substrate. The blue and green is blended on the ink roller. I seem to be on a theme of English countryside fauna as this follow's swiftly (excuse pun) behind yesterday's crow!
