I have always wanted to paint a painting of a steam engine but up until now I have deffered due to lack of experience so this my first attempt. I have painted two slightly differing versions of the same scene which is based on a black and white photo taken by a photographer in the year 1908. I have tried to simplify the scene by leaving out as much detail as I could in order to give an impression only and not something really complicated.
