Winter Trees - After Wesson

Winter Trees - After Wesson

Wow Pete this is fabulous, definitely a hint of Wesson but also an addition of your own style too. Trees are brilliant.

I thought this had a hint of Wesson about it. I also prefer the rag papers, Saunders and Arches, as you can over paint without creating too much mud. This works well.

I hate Bockingford Peter, it's like blotting paper, but other's love it!. The Hake was great in the hands of Ron Ranson, but I could never get to grips with it. Super work anyway, Arches is a lovely paper to work on, I also love Fabriano Artistico just as much.

Great work here, Pete...I get in a terrible mess with hakes! love the tree branches, really effective. I have a love/hate relationship with all water colour papers at one stage or another in the painting!!!

Thanks Fiona. Your comments are always most welcome.

Thanks very much Stephen.

Thanks for your comments Alan. I have quite a few Bockingford sheets left that I bought in a moment of madness! I will eventually use them up :)

Thanks Thalia. Alan mentioned Fabriano Artistico, but I've never tried that paper. Any comment about it?

Thank you Maureen

Thanks a lot, Margaret

Watercolour on Bockingford NOT 200lb paper. I thought I'd have a play around with the hake brush today. I've decided I prefer my trusty mops! and also my beloved Arches paper. Decided I'm not fond of either the hake or Bockingford paper. I was stuck for a subject so I resorted to my book library. This is after Ted Wesson's Winter Trees.
