I am always fascinated by pieces of wood and this is a great study - love it.

Agreed, outstanding coloured pencil drawing Peter, great textures

Just brilliant Peter.

Beautifully done, Peter. The textures are just super, and the warm and cool contrasts really add so much vibrancy to the painting. Have a very merry Christmas and New Year!

This is full of stunning detail Peter.

A delicate painting. Very beautiful.

Vaguely surreal which is a good thing. I like the textures and the "flow" around the wood.

Thanks every one for your kind comments, I must admit I am totally taken with the coloured pencils. Kirstie, hope you enjoy the coloursoft, if you have not used pencils much before, there is a great site by Peter Weatherill called coloured pencil topics, I realy found this a great help.

Hi Peter, Happy New Year, hope you had a good one. I finally found a white that works, our local art shop is very helpful and she found me a white drawing ink, it's rotring ink.works a treat, also the white china pencil works but I don't know how to sharpen it. Have you tried any of these?

Rather late with my comments ! This is superb; the composition and your palette - the rusty red mmmm! You really are very good with CPs.

Another CP picture on my costal theme, I was totally fascinated in the way that nature had eroded the wave breaker barriers with the stones, pebbles and sand. So many beautiful shapes, this one reminded me of a pigeon. Hope you like. Derwent coloursoft, artist and studio pencils on DR 130 grm cartridge paper. Size A3.
